Mill District Event Spaces!
Word on the street is that there’s a new venue in town! Last month, we proudly became the hospitality partner for Mill District Event Spaces in Downtown Minneapolis. Nestled in the heart of the Mill District, this stunning venue plays a key role in Sherman Associates’ ongoing redevelopment of the historic J.I. Case Building.
We can’t wait to welcome clients into this remarkable space. As D’Amico Hospitality owner Paul Smith put it best, “With its captivating blend of historic allure and contemporary features, Mill District Event Spaces is an exceptional choice for various celebrations, from corporate gatherings and weddings to non-profit galas and private dinners.”
To kick off the partnership, we threw a celebration of our own – an evening designed to showcase the newly renovated venue to our closest friends and vendor partners. The night featured a special, “one night only” D’Amico Hospitality Supper Club (though we had so much fun, we just might bring it back!). Paying homage to the building’s beloved past as the Old Spaghetti Factory, the event’s theme was a playful and nostalgic nod to its roots.
Working with Gretchen Culver, owner of Rocket Science Events, we created an unforgettable night full of delightful surprises. Guests were greeted with passed bubbles and savory bites like Chef Blake’s famous pickle dip on a crostini, mini fondue pots, beet and goat cheese macarons, and a fun “weenie & tini” pairing. Turning the first corner into the prefunction space revealed shelves filled with even more of our favorites, including the classic D’Amico Apple, Cheese & Chive Salad.
Entering the main event space, guests faced a delicious dilemma: which chef performance station to visit first? The Not Your Mama’s Meatloaf, a comforting wagyu small plate with chefs carefully plating to perfection that quickly became a fan favorite (who doesn’t love mashed potatoes and green peppercorn sauce?) or the beautiful chef-tossed pasta station that is hard to beat.
Several details throughout the night were inspired by Gretchen’s grandmother, Mary B. In front of a classic supper club wall covered in a charming mix of vintage Hollywood-style photos, pulled straight from Mary B’s home, stood a parmesan wheel overflowing with offerings like Cacio e Pepe, braised lamb ragu, homemade focaccia, fresh salad, and more.
Guests who were extra lucky received a surprise table drop from one of our servers. After all, who wouldn’t love a helping of table fries or a scoop of Mary B’s iconic spinach dip while deep in conversation and unable to step away from the moment?
Meanwhile, tucked inside the Washington Room was the Dessert Den, a sweet haven featuring a display of Executive Pastry Chef Leah’s signature cakes and a station where Chef Amber live torched baked Alaska pops – a major guest favorite and an irresistibly Instagram-worthy moment.
And of course, we didn’t forget about the bar. At our infusion station, guests sipped signature cocktails featuring butterfly pea–infused gin and chai-infused rye bourbon. The main bar served playful nods to classic supper-club beverages, including the “Green Room Gossip” and the “After Dinner Flirt.”
The evening was a true celebration of collaboration, creativity, and community – an unforgettable night that set the perfect tone for this exciting new partnership. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this event to life. This celebration simply would not have been possible without the extraordinary dedication of our own team members, whose hard work, talent, and passion shone through in every detail.
