The Industry’s Night Out

Inside the Star Awards, a night dedicated to celebrating the people, creativity, and extraordinary moments behind our industry’s most unforgettable events

In an industry built on long days, late nights, and countless small details, there aren’t many moments when we get to pause and truly celebrate the work we do. The International Live Events Association’s Minneapolis Chapter Star Awards are one of those rare and meaningful nights.

What we like to call our industry night out, the Star Awards bring together the people behind some of Minneapolis’ most memorable events. From planners to AV specialists, chefs to florists, everyone gathers to celebrate with each other and all the incredible work we do all year—much of it the clients never even see.

For our team, it’s more than just an awards ceremony. It’s a chance to reflect on the events that challenged us, inspired us, and pushed us to think differently. Every event tells a story, and the Star Awards give some of those stories a spotlight.

It’s also a celebration of creativity. In a world where no two events are the same, this night is a reminder of just how far imagination can go. From bold design concepts to thoughtful details that elevate the guest experience, the work recognized here showcases the very best of what our industry has to offer. Not only are those details recognized; they’re put on full display.

Each year, the theme is thoughtfully imagined and brought to life in unforgettable ways. This year’s masquerade – beautifully led by director Jenna Culley of Jenna Culley Events – came to life through layers of rich, flowing drapery, vintage-chic bites that felt both nostalgic and elevated, and bold, theatrical cocktails that doubled as conversation pieces.

Hosted at our exclusive Bavaria Downs venues, Equestria West and Edward Anne Estate, every corner of the room felt intentional – layered, moody, and just a little mysterious in all the right ways. It’s the kind of environment that makes you stop, look around, and think, this is why we love what we do.

But what made the night even more meaningful was the opportunity to celebrate alongside our peers – and to bring home a few wins of our own. We were honored with Best Public Event for Dinner Du Nord, where 2,000 guests gathered to dine together along Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, and Best Menu Innovation for a one-of-a-kind culinary challenge: creating a dairy-free, gluten-free, nightshade-free, kosher-style menu, and yes, even a cream cheese wonton.

Whether we’re walking across the stage or cheering from our seats, the Star Awards remind us why we do what we do. They celebrate not just the finished product, but the teamwork, creativity, and dedication behind it. There is a shared pride in the room.

And when the night ends, we head back into a new season of events—recharged, inspired, and ready to do it all over again.
